Most Utah families we serve use Medicaid for ABA therapy. Here’s what the process looks like from your side of it.
September 22, 2026
For a lot of parents, cost is the reason the phone call never happens. You assume it’s out of reach, and you never find out otherwise.
So let us put the useful part first: for most Utah families EverReach works with, Medicaid is how their in-home ABA therapy is covered, and it is usually their primary insurance, not a supplement to something else.
We accept

Why Medicaid and In-Home ABA Fit Together
Our Utah program is built around in-home ABA therapy, and that’s the service most of our Medicaid families use.
Therapy comes to you. Nothing to drive to, no waiting room, no clinic schedule to bend your week around. For families juggling work, other children, and a child who finds new environments hard, that removes a real barrier rather than adding one.
The support fits your family as it actually is. A therapist who is in your home sees what your week genuinely looks like, and your child’s program gets built around that instead of around an appointment slot.
What Our Team Verifies for You
You don’t chase your coverage. We do. Once you’ve had your intake call and submitted your forms, our team handles the coverage side behind the scenes:
Confirming your active coverage. We check that your Medicaid plan is current and covers the services your child needs.
Submitting the documentation. After your child’s Board Certified Behavior Analyst completes the initial evaluation, we send the resulting plan to your insurance for approval.
Following up on your behalf. This is the part families find most draining to handle on their own. We make the calls and keep track of where things stand.
Telling you where things stand. You’ll hear from us as things move, rather than wondering whether anything is happening.
Flagging problems early. If something comes back that changes the picture, you hear it from us directly and quickly, not weeks later when you have already made plans.
For the full sequence from first call through first session, see our guide to starting ABA therapy in Utah.
What You’ll Need to Have Ready
Your side of the coverage process is short. Having these in hand makes it move faster.
Your Medicaid information. Your child’s member ID and plan details. If you’re not sure what you have, bring what you’ve got and we’ll sort it out on the call.
Your child’s autism diagnosis, if you have one. A diagnosis is part of the path to ABA services. If your child has not been evaluated yet, that is a normal starting point; see our guide to autism evaluation and diagnosis in Utah.
Completed intake forms. These cover your child’s history, your contact details, and permission for us to work on your behalf. Incomplete paperwork is the single most common reason a family’s start date slips.
A way to reach you. We contact families within 24 hours of receiving intake forms. A current phone number and email keeps that promise workable.
How Long the Coverage Process Takes
Six to eight weeks is the realistic number, and waiting on plan approval is the biggest single piece of it. That part moves at your insurance company’s pace rather than ours. Some families start sooner; we give you the realistic number up front so you can plan your family’s schedule around it.
What you can control: how quickly the intake forms come back, and how reachable you are when we call. Those two things account for most of the difference between a family who starts in six weeks and one who starts in ten.
Find out what your coverage means
One call and we will verify your benefits and tell you exactly where your family stands. No cost, no obligation.
If You Don’t Have Medicaid
We also work with families covered through commercial insurance plans. The process above is the same from your side, intake call, forms, evaluation, plan approval, first session and only the paperwork behind the scenes differs.
If you’re unsure what you have or whether it covers ABA therapy, call and ask. Our team verifies benefits as part of intake, so you’ll get an answer about your own coverage rather than a general one you have to interpret.
What Happens Once Coverage Is in Place
Getting approved isn’t the finish line, and we don’t treat it that way.
Your therapist begins regular in-home sessions. The early visits are mostly about your child getting comfortable. What to expect during your child’s first in-home ABA session covers how that usually goes.
A BCBA supervises every week. Your Board Certified Behavior Analyst reviews how sessions are going, supports your therapist, and adjusts your child’s plan as they progress.
Our admin team checks in monthly, at minimum. At least once a month you’ll have a real conversation about how things are going. Between those, you can reach us whenever you need to.
Parent training runs alongside. Your child spends far more hours with you than with any therapist, which is exactly why we teach you the strategies the team is using. Reinforcing ABA strategies at home is where a lot of real progress gets built.
Progress gets tracked, and you get to see it. Your child’s goals are written down and measured. See how ABA progress data is collected for what that involves.
